Animal Husbandry Deptt refutes news | KNO

The Department of Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Department has refuted the news item carried by a Jammu based English newspaper terming the allegations as false and concocted.

While clarifying, Commissioner Secretary Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Departments said owing to pending petitions in court of law, the department is facing difficulties in holding Departmental Promotion Committee meetings to consider the promotions among various cadres of functionaries in the Department.  He said as soon the final outcome is received from the Court it will be implemented in letter and spirit. He said a set rule is followed for transfers and postings of the officials within the Department.

He said the department is working with zeal aiming to attain self-sufficiency in livestock products through the application of modern scientific techniques in the State and ensures improvement of health and genetic potential of livestock by utilizing modern scientific techniques.

 The spokesperson said that under the guidance of Minister for Animal, Sheep and Fisheries Abdul Gani Kohli, the department has taken initiatives to bring in reforms besides framing a new policy according to which seniority lists will be issued and subsequent promotions given to the eligible employees of the department.

He further stated that owing to strenuous efforts of the department, Dairy Villages are being taken up in the State under the Deen Dayal Upadhyay scheme while Poultry Villages are also being established in the State for the first time.

He said under the Blue Revolution, first of its kind initiative has been taken up by the Fisheries Department and a new fish “Mahasheer” has been introduced in the State.

He further stated that the government is contemplating to establish its own Veterinary University in the State adding that Frozen Semen Project Ranbirbagh, Kashmir and Frozen Semen Lab Hakkal, Jammu were conferred Grade “B” by the Central Monitoring Unit during 2015-16 and 2016-17 respectively, making them among a few select labs in India to have Grade B.

      The Spokesman said that sustained efforts are being taken to attain perceptible change in economic growth of the State by boosting self-employment and entrepreneurship in the Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries sectors.
